Dancing Leaves

Dead leaves, fallen leaves,

Dance their life away in the chilly wind.

Slowly dancing from place to place, acting like they’re living.

Despite what others say,

Autumn isn’t timeless.

It’s just a reminder of what you have done.

I see your beautiful, dark hazel eyes withering away,

Fading just like the autumn leaves.

Counting down the days till autumn passes.

Counting down the days from when you took your last breath.

Lonely leaves

Die one by one with no one around.

Is that how you felt?

Each leaf is dancing in denial.

Dancing away smiling as they wither away and become nothing,

Every single one of them is slowly dying.

The author's comments:

This poem was inspired by the season of autumn and how the season makes winter feel closer. Winter was a very tragic time for a lot of people due to all the suicides that happen.
