Red Wings
Going to the Red Wings game with my friend Bella,
It’s super rainy outside “I shoulda brought my umbrella!”
We walk in the stadium getting blasted with air,
lucky for me I brought a thick hoodie to wear.
We both get in our seats and wait for the start,
I am anxiously waiting with the beat of my heart.
The music starts playing and lights begin flashing,
I make eye-contact with Bella before we start laughing.
The players come out and start skating around,
The crowd begins roaring, an overwhelming sound,
We watch as the players line up for the drop,
And during that moment my heart takes a stop.
I watch their feet move, first left and then right,
Then next thing I know, two players break out in fight,
A helmet comes off and flies in the air,
Our guy gets pulled out “This cannot be fair!”
The game is so close we’re on the edge of our seat,
And at the end of the game, we both sigh in defeat,
Even after the loss we both smile so proud,
Along with the crowd, we both cheer out loud.

This poem is about my first ever hockey game. I was invited to go with my friend Bella and her father. I absolutely loved it!
