Bushes
I have dozens of bushes
lined up and waiting to be dealt with.
Each one different,
some wait patiently for my attention
some demand it.
Everytime I procrastinate
waiting until the last possible second.
Sometimes it’s good to wait
some bushes bloom flowers,
but if I wait too long
the bushes grow out of control,
growing thorns, making bushes painful to preserve.
I always end up attending to them
trimming and reshaping them.
Some branches snap
forcing me to reconsider the shape I want.
I repeatedly prick my fingers on the ones that grew thorns.
I constantly remind myself to deal with them sooner
Even if it means no longer having the flowers.
All to avoid the pain
but I never remember soon enough;
I just keep beating around the bush.
