A Peaceful Way

I need to do some writing today

To keep the greedy goblins at bay.

Overthinking slows the flow

In which my valiant pen must go.

Motivated, my pen flies without delay

Knowing the most efficient way.

Those greedy goblins blocking the way

Which may take me to my future today.

Greedy Goblins causing confusion and delay

Frightened by my pen and paper, they turn quick to the bay.

That’s my cue telling me, time to go

Now I can follow the path to let my future flow.

I hear a soft stream flow

This softly, swishing stream points the way

I should turn, I need to go.

Many obstacles are out to play, I don’t have time today.

I have successfully kept those greedy goblins at bay

I must hurry, as to keep away from further delay.

There is no greater stress than delay.

Delay thrives disrupting Flow

Flow and Delay constantly battle, no eyes on the bay.

Those greedy Goblins slip away

Searching for more trouble to get into today.

Chaotically creeping further as they go,

Delay peaks over, scatter!  Go! Go! Go!

Sprinting through the forest away from Delay

The most fun they had today!

Escape cut short by a river’s fast flow

Hide amongst the greenery, out of the way.

Delay hears Flow calling from the bay.

Delay stumbles on sandy ground, the greedy Goblins have returned to the bay.

Fewer minutes to spare, go! Go! Go!

Pushing past large, leafy branches shading my way.

I decide I will not have delay

Quicker still my movements flow,

Man I exercised a lot today.

I made it to my future today, greedy goblins continue to play at the bay,

Watching over is Flow, warning them not to go

Now Flow and Delay have found a peaceful way.

I have seen many of peers stressed out about their busy schedules, so I wrote this poem with that sense of urgency in mind. I hope readers can root for the speaker but also realize all they miss on their journey to their desired destination.
