First Snow
I open my eyes as I step out outside
I feel the cool breeze first hit my face
Soon chills take over my body as I take in the scenery
It is the first snow of the year
The trees are covered in ice
Dead branches with no remaining leaves
And the ground is covered in a thick layer of white
I bend down and trace the top layer of snow with my fingertip
Feeling the cold against my skin
I draw my hand back
And take one last look at what is in front of me
Before closing my eyes and drifting back to sleep
