The Reasons I Sleep
I sleep to escape
I sleep to forget
I sleep to dream
But I can’t sleep yet
I’ve just woken up
But I wanna go back
It’s peaceful there
Floating through the black
I trudge along
As the day goes by
I’m waiting for night
So then I may fly
The time is here
I slip under at last
I fall from the world
And my vision is glassed
I can finally escape
From my daily pain
I roam this dark land
And no longer strain
I can forget once more
The stupid things I said
The dumb things I did
But only here in my bed
Now I can dream
Of anything I please
I can’t think of much
But it should be a breeze
I can now escape
To somewhere new
I can be myself
And not feel so blue
I can forget it all
The sorrows of the day
I can relax and breathe
In a soft, happy way
I can dream so much
Dream of better things
And no one can stop me
Should I dream of having wings
I can finally escape
I can forget once more
Now I can dream
And walk my own shore
I can now escape
I can forget it all
I can dream so much
And never really fall
These are the reasons
The reasons I sleep
These are my reasons
And my reasons are deep
