Let Us Love
Why can’t people
Just let us love
They hate on us
When push comes to shove
We hear the slurs
And names they say
We hear it all the time
Every single day
We didn’t choose
To be like this
We didn’t choose
Who we wanted to kiss
But all these people
These “followers of God”
Say we’re going to Hell
Because “gay” is fraud
None of them understand
That it’s simply just love
They see us as different
And decide they’re above
Some sort of phobia
That’s what it’s called
But no one is scared
So the name is quite odd
It’s quite odd because
If people were scared
We wouldn't be beaten
We would be spared
Yet still, we march
With heads held high
Arm in arm
Against all who deny
We fly our flags
And colors in the wind
Even if people
Say that we’ve sinned
But aside from that all
We long to be free
To walk hand in hand
For everyone to see
So call us names
And shout out slurs
We know our love
Is quite similar to yours
Two people in love
Regardless of face
Like people in love
Regardless of race
So one last time
I’ll say it clear
Just let us love
Not live in fear
