silence.
that is what we share now because there's nothing to talk about.
sadly, attached to that silence are words held back but never said...
words that mark the end, and words that strive to stab each other in the heart.
cruel, critical, bitter, bleak, and severe...words.
inaudible, halcyon pounding.
the noise our hearts make that are awfully opposite to how they used to sound;
back to the days when they made boisterous, splashing, and strident thuds...
caused by the excitability triggered just from being near to each other.
now,
there's no eager butterflies that flutter gracefully in my stomach...
you don't make my heart beat faster, and faster...
i've become disconnected with...you.
ticking...
the sound of time becoming more and more perishable.
and us,
both too obstinate to end it,
hold on a few seconds longer,
waiting, just waiting,
for something to grant us with the power to make it work...
and another outside force to contribute consent that it is in fact...possible...
hope seems too far gone.
motionless sighs, heartbeats dwindling ceasefully...
and then...
the sound of...nothing.
