Light amber petals fly high through the breeze.

Her white linen gown brushes the leaves.

She takes a breath. She is no longer his.

This is what freedom is.

Her soft flowy curls drape down from her head.

The locks he once dragged are free by each thread.

Excitement takes over her legs so she kneels.

This is how freedom feels.

Away on a bush, full of bright berries

Some bumble bees dwell, peaceful like fairies.

The fruit was sweet. She made sure not to waste.

This is how freedom tastes.

The bees start to buzz. The trees do a dance.

The birds chirp a tune. This is her chance.

She sings aloud. All the voices compound.

This is how freedom sounds.

She closes her eyes and loses her poise.

Her slow focus shifts and drowns out the noise.

That one little girl that she used to be

Is waiting inside to be set free.

Suddenly the sun is shining brighter.

The clouds part and show a sky that's lighter.

She takes a breath. She is no longer his.

This is what freedom is.
