A Villanelle: Lonely Wanderer
By the lone border of a pensive lake,
A girl in solitude, with a sensitive nature, roving.
She goes and sets her lonely heart ablaze.
Head lowers in rapt attention blinking April aubade,
Black dress with unlaced shoes pacing,
By the lone border of a pensive lake.
Looking askance towards a nebulous vapor’s blaze,
Gently with her feet the broken water stirring,
She goes and sets her lonely heart ablaze.
Dim fabric of nature lies prone in haze.
Blue blood by the roots of trees sighing,
By the lone border of a pensive lake.
Whistles of birds calling from Siegfried while silence parades,
In fragrant masses of white flowers doomed of dying,
She goes and sets her lonely heart ablaze.
Engulfed in prison gates of a bleeding nature she strives to remain,
Invincible in the ebb and flow of her feelings.
By the lone border of a pensive lake,
She goes and sets her lonely heart ablaze.
