Innocence
We played with Innocence,
Tied it up and dragged it,
It got away— we chased,
Tied it tighter so that it would stay,
Too tight said Innocence,
But we couldn’t hear,
With a broken neck, it lay inert,
Fur: white and pure.
We didn’t understand
Where the life had gone;
We were playing,
It was all meant to be fun.
