Don't Talk to Strangers
Mom said not to talk to strangers.
Even if they smiled and said hi.
i looked at Mom, “but what if they're friendly and kind. “
She grabbed my hand and said to me, “Then go for a walk outside.”
“Alone?” i replied,
she nodded and smiled high.
I got a knot in my stomach, it made me wanna cry.
Rushing gushing fear of those darkened streets.
Thoughts of scary strangers handing out treats.
But never did i see such heinous scenes.
Instead, i saw children on swings eating cherries and ice cream.
Now thoughts of mushy joy as i ran to join the play.
I forgot Mother’s words to be careful and not stray away.
Singing, laughing, and dancing what a wonderful day,
until i saw Mother headed my way.
Rage boiled in her eyes as she trotted to me.
She screamed looking down, “How could you be so dumb you mindless turkey!”
Engulfed in fiery fumes she stabbed my arm and dragged me away.
To the prison to be locked up just like every day.
What were once tender arms that rocked me to sleep.
Now screamed if i dared to make a peep.
Acting deranged and frantic wherever we would go.
Who is my mother? I don't even know.
But it came to me while i sat and contemplated.
All the phrases and sentences that mom had stated.
I realized an underlined truth,
I’m not as gullible as the other youth.
If Mother says not to talk to strangers who are mean and unkind.
Then I won’t talk to Mother, hopefully, she won’t mind.
Just something I wrote for fun.
