the fire that always burns
If you are born into a burning house
You are often led to believe
The whole world is on fire.
I was born into a house where
THE PEOPLE
were the ones on fire.
Not the foundation of wherever we lived.
When I was four
The fire went out for a short amount of time.
It was amazing.
I miss the fireless feel of moving into this small apartment
Barely enough space for our family of three.
But, that feeling was short-lived.
Soon enough, that place was filled to the brim.
Then there were four.
Four souls that did not mix as they should.
Four people that caught on fire once again.
A fire that burned brighter than ever before.
Then one left.
Now there’s three again.
But, that fire still burns to this day.
A fire that brings me to my knees
At least once a week
A fire that's worse than any heartbreak
Worse than any death or destruction the world can bring.
I HATE this fire
But, so long as I’m here, the fire will burn.
And I know that as it burns it will take me and my family with it.
Because we are the flames.
