A bright, blinding sun rises above
The walls where I reside in. Peaceful
chirping and thriving wildlife,
Lies outside.

Three months ago, it was dark instead.
Rain poured as a black, long box
Laid ahead of me.

A picture of my great grandma
Framed in sorrow. The memories of her start to
Fade into shades of gray, so I try to avoid
Remembering them.

Outside I focus at, through a familiar, clear panel
With red fabric to shield the sun. As I sit
Inside these walls, something catches my eye and
I lean closer, to watch.

A small, divine creature
Lands on a tree right next to me. It’s
Small red body, and talons
Gripping onto the birch.

With eyes, full of spirit,
And an orange beak, small, but strong.

It’s wings,
Devoted to soar and protect
Fiercely at any threat.

The creature’s body is so pure, and meaningful,
That I feel blessed to see it. As if
A message was sent just for me, to see.

As I stare and watch the humbled creature,
I get a sense of comfort. Knowing
My great grandma loved the creatures, fills me
With happiness and love.

Eventually, One of
My cats living outside, walk in curiosity
Towards the red being, only to scare it.

The creature flaps its sacred wings to retreat, and flies
Back into the forest where it arose from.
