Ode to the Snooze Button
Waking up to the sound, the alarm clock rings,
A choice to make, as the new day springs.
To rise from slumber or to indulge in dreams,
The snooze button beckons, or so it seems.
Oh, the allure of the snooze button’s call,
Whispering softly, as the morning enthralls.
Just five more minutes, I promised it,
Rolling under the covers of warmth.
In this moment, temptation wins the fight,
Indulging in slumber, just one more night,
The world can wait as a drift off in bliss,
Procrastination’s embrace, I cannot resist.
But consequences await at the snooze's end,
Frantically rushing, as I use minutes I don't have to spend.
The morning rituals now a hurried affair,
Brushing teeth, combing hair.
Half-open eyes struggle to see the light,
As I stumble through the haze, an amusing sight.
Mismatched socks, messy hair, I wear,
The consequences of snooze, I must bear.
Yet, as guilt creeps in for time lost in bliss,
A flicker of determination starts to kick in.
An inner battle waged between dream and life,
To conquer morning grogginess, and seize the fray.
With a final surge, I cast off the slumber's chain,
Embracing the day, as my spirits regain.
Victorious, I rise from the tug of the snooze,
Conquering laziness, with victory to choose.
In this ode to the snooze button's allure,
We recognize its power, both uncertain and sure.
A friend and a foe, in the morning's routine,
The struggle we share, a familiar scene.
So, let us laugh at the moments we've known,
Of delays and rushes of mornings, we've all shown.
In our battle with the snooze, we find unity,
Embracing the challenge of each new opportunity.
For in the dance with dreams, and the morning's call,
We greet the day, standing tall.
And as we rise, with eyes that barely function,
We curse the snooze button's temptation.
