I wish you could see that I try 

That even waking up is a struggle 

But still I wipe the dust from my eyes

And attempt to make this day a little better than

The one before that 

Even eating can be difficult 

But still I stand there 

Making sure I do not betray my body’s needs 

Even when my mind wishes me to

That even laughing can be hard but still 

I try to ignore the guilt that comes with grief 

And learning how to move on 

Sometimes it feels like 

I’m swimming against a strong current 

But I keep pushing forward 

Each step forward is a victory 

No matter how small 

I wish I could make you understand 

The battles I fight within myself everyday 

The invisible struggles are often 

The hardest to explain 

But know this 

Despite the challenges 

I refuse to give up
