Bittersweet
It’s bittersweet
This last ending
The last before no contact
We laughed
We cried
Ate bad Chinese
And went to my favorite store
We kissed one last time in the rain
I almost didn’t want to leave
We stayed there
Hugging
Taking in your scent
One last time
Staying longer than we should have
And part of me wishes I hadn’t left
And we had stayed in that little oasis
My own personal heaven
I’ll relieve it 1000 times
And wouldn’t change a thing
But I knew if I didn’t walk away then…
We might not have parted
And we needed to
We need to let go and grow
But still my heart yearns for you
Even though I’m the one that called it off
This is the way it has to be
This bittersweet ending

Senior in high school. I wrote this piece about the final day I had with my ex-boyfriend, we had already broken up before this, but this was the day when we finished returning each other's stuff and had our final meal together.
