Survival
He lurks along the alleyway,
Focused on the prize,
Unblinking, his eyes follow
The Rodent,
Who lies underneath the brush.
He is seeking
His chance
An opportunity
To pounce
Teeth, claws, and muscle at the ready-
Spears, daggers, force.
Barbarian, yet effective.
The Cat,
A beast.
Living in the jungle,
Of cruelty.
A place
Coexisting
With that of Men
And their desires
This Cat
Knows that place;
He once had a master.
But has long since learned
That Man is not loyal
And does not
Always love you.
The Cat has changed,
And what once was tame,
Now
Relies
On instinct.
