New Years Realization
The music stops and the cork is popped.
Champagne is pouring over the top.
The cork hits me hard, it creates a bruise,
And they pour me glass.
That’s when I realized I’ve never liked champagne.
I looked for someone I knew, mostly only you.
Hoping for a kiss, or even just a clue.
The image hits me hard, you’re kissing someone else,
And they pour me another glass.
That’s when I realized you never liked me back.
Our eyes meet, and we finally greet.
It’s midnight and I suddenly feel beat.
The fact hits me hard, your new years kiss wasn’t with me,
And they pour me another glass.
That’s when I realize my new years resolution is getting over you.
