Beneath The Surface MAG
Shovels scooped dirt from the earth
eagerly awaiting my father's arrival
Black blazers and dresses
gathered
in his honor
sharing tissues and tears
His name in stone
lies peacefully across the street
chiseled into my heart
My friend, Jack Daniels, and I
visit him often
He left me a fortune
a glowing green memory
with which I bought the best medicine
to dull the pain
Cold swigs tingled
my dry larynx
Graves of tin
encompass
my personal cemetery.
