A World Unaffected
On the news each and every day,
always some new tragedy.
Teen beatings caught on Youtube,
we watch them beat her badly.
An unknown soldier died today,
yet another suicide bomb.
Unaffected by the war,
we all head off to prom.
Four teens in a crash last night,
it was the booze to blame.
Family’s lives forever altered,
still we switch back to the game.
A man died in San Diego,
it was a shark attack.
All the city wants to know
is when they get their beaches back.
The problem with this world
is that we watch and hear,
but we do not see or listen.
Ignoring all ‘cause it’s not near.
