Pink Heels
There is a girl in pink heels
Staring, judging, scaring me
Hair hanging down like a lions mane
She has it all
The boys stop and stare
But never really see her
She often dreams of a world
Where she can be anything
Not just what the boys want her to be
She wants to be a savior,
A writer, a dreamer
She wants to be someone
Someone important
Not just a beautiful body
This girl in the pink heels
Stays up all night
Not “tweeting” or “texting”
Not writing her life story on Myspace
But she studies
She studies for tests a week away
This girl in the pink heels
Stares, but sees nothing
For this girl is not real
She is but an imagination
She is the girl you want to be
But, yet, she is an unrealistic one
For this girl lives today
Just in a smaller form
We call them children
This girl
The one in the pink heels
