You Always Knew
The camera can never capture your beauty
Though, in snapshots, you’re always flawless
I could never shine as bright as you could
Or have my life so put together
Best friends know what the other thinks
And can see the other for what they are
I can’t help but wonder what you see in me
And if you think I could ever be so pretty
I hold that old snapshot in my hand
The first one we ever took
And see the overly happy smiles on our faces
Like even though we had just met, we knew
The photo of us is somewhat faded
Though our smiles remain sunshine bright
And I know no matter what my brain tells me to think
You know I’m just as luminescent, if not more.
