The girl I knew next door
The girl I knew next door was beaten,
her father with a whip at hand.
She cried and cried for him to stop,
but yield did he not.
The man was a monster, a terrifying monster.
The day she died was the day she finally learned to live
for there was no more pain,
no more to gain but sweet peace.
