WANT
All she ever said was “more, more, more!”
She didn’t know what it meant to be poor.
She never shared
She didn’t care
She had piles of toys
And made lots of noise!
She took but never gave back
And when Santa came he always carried a very large sack
Until one day
Mommy and daddy didn’t get paid
Their jobs were taken away
And they had no place to stay
The little girl cried
Because they couldn’t buy
She wanted things
That daddy could not bring
And then she started to pray
She would say,
“Lord I’m sorry for being greedy,
And now all I am is needy!”
So she learned what it meant to be poor
And that she could deal without saying “more!”
She now was a caring little girl
Who finally understood the world.
