THE LITTLE BLUE BIRD AND THE RIBBON
Little girl, little girl
In the meadow
The meadow is
Open and big
The little girl sings softly
With the wind
With bright blue eyes
And dull blonde hair
Skin so soft
Like an angel
In her hand
A blue bird with a ribbon
Tied in a bow
And so beautiful
Eyes so big
And feathers so soft
She sings louder
And the wind does too
She holds the bird tight
To make it feel safe
Then she stops singing
As does the wind
A tear rolls down her cheek
Just one
She kisses the bird
And lets it free
She knows that
She might never see the bird again
She takes a deep breath
And walks home
Depressed and staring at the ground
She walks into her room
With the window open
And wind blowing in
Making her curtains sway
Back and forth
She looks up
And she sees…
On her bed
A blue bird with a ribbon
Tied in a bow
And so beautiful
Eyes so big
And feathers so soft
