I Don’t Miss Him
When people asked me if I miss him or not,
I say, “I don’t.”
When they ask if it’s weird not having him around,
I say, “No.”
And when they ask if it was hard when he left,
I say, “Not really”
But the truth is, that’s not the truth,
it was hard when he left,
it is weird not having him around, and
yes, I do miss him.
That is what you can believe is the truth about how it is now that my big brother lives in
Florida.
It is so strange not have someone to tease me or make me laugh 24/7.
My younger siblings act the same way, but
I question if they feel the same way as I do.
They put on a brave face, but I think at least one of them feels like me.
My little brother writes notes to him, but
My sister didn’t even go to say 1 last “Good-bye.”
When people ask if I’m excited for him to come home,
I say, “He can stay out longer.”
When people ask if I get excited about reading his letters and emails,
I say, “Not like my mom does.”
And when they ask if I want to see him again,
I say, “Pictures are great, but I can wait to see him in person.”
Well, the truth is, that’s not the truth,
I do want to see him in person,
I am really excited about reading his letters and emails, and
I do want him to come home soon.
It is hard having my brother live in Florida, but
I guess that I’ll survive.
Thomas I give all my love.
