A Once Beautiful Place
A once beautiful place, Wonderful and equipped for life, Now looks as if the world has turned its face, Not caring anymore
Desperate scribbles of graffiti, Trying to get a point across, Part of some unwritten treaty, Broken, colorless scrawl Litter, strewn across the grass, Scraps of societyÕs carelessness, Telling tales of events that came to pass, Leftover pieces of memory Glass in many a splintered shard, Twinkling on the soft earth, Reminders of a time that was less scarred, Glinting an unforgettable reminder A smudged and dirty footprint, On a wrinkled scrap of paper, A covert, hidden hint, Of life that came before A fallen warning sign, Twisted on the hard soil, A token of when living was fine, Bent beyond recognition But hope shines evermore, That this place could be rebuilt, A fight worth fighting for, A once beautiful place
