When It Rains
Rain;
It washes away old dirt,
Smears away layers of make-up,
Allows things to start anew.
And yet it’s under-appreciated.
It makes the grass greener,
Allows the wild flowers to grow,
And still, people hate it.
It changes the shape of the land,
Gives water, the basis of life, to all living things.
Sunny days make me cringe,
Who wants sun burn and sweat?
I wait patiently for the next heavy rain,
So I can drift off into the cool, cleansing,
feeling of rain against my skin.
