Redline Frosty
A brisk winter breeze cuts through our oversized coats
Trudging like the marshmallow man up a snow-covered hill
But feeling like skeletons in icy water
Dragging along the sleds of our fathers
For what seems like hours
At the top we look out like kings over their kingdoms
And for one moment we are exalted
We line up like racehorses and brace for takeoff
With a shout we all launch down the icy slope
I whiz past with a yell
Beaming back with a childish pride
But as suddenly as it started it stops
With a crash and a fight for breathe
I become wrapped in an ocean of white
A king deposed from his throne.
