Half-Life Days
Remember that day we watched the clouds
float by like circus animals?
No.
Neither do I.
Remember the day of the stick ponies around the
supermarket,
Indians hot on our heels.
Like the giddy up evening
mockingbird giggles at checkout.
Remember today, tick-tock daydreaming
deafening nostalgic lip-lip flapping
Like penniless raconteurs in the roaring belly
Of city
colors.
Remember glass-honed hard eyes,
victim of heat stroked houses like baking clay
hearts, disillusioned
minimalist pollution.
The encrusted diamond night not so much privy
to observers' naked eyes as roofed sleepers
Dreaming notions,
With I's, I's, I's.
