Sonnet 23
Can there be light in a place that is dark?
Still, i lay, a shallow hole in the earth.
Red paint is dripping, this picture is stark.
An unsettling fate, the night gives birth.
Dressed in threads of honor, i feel so naked.
Brother has left me, ripped away by hate.
With mama just left with a tag, so sacred
I want to go home, oh god! It's too late.
Fire; bloody, streaming lights the solemn sky.
I did it for dad, will he think I'm brave?
My eyes start to glaze; only i ask, why?
A hero I'll be known, i die a slave.
I still don't know if it was wrong or right,
it could be my eyes, but i see no light.
