These Hands
beyond a broken steel gate
lies a long dirt path
revealing a hidden murky pond
surrounded by miraculously changing leaves
with the sun just simply poking through
a tiny hand comes up to cover the face
of a small girl from the bright sun
the other hand tightly gripped
to her grandpa’s
they walked hand-in-hand
all the way to the end
the girl keeps looking up at her grandpa
admiring his glowing face.

“Do you want to feed the fish?”
