there I am afore
tan stucco wall & plain
window, suspended in a moment
of childish happiness:
eyes closed, salty wet
hair thrown back,
arms embracing
the giver
the initiator who asked
for a hug and
included a kiss
brown skin of comfort consumes
my chubby white, clothed
in pink animal print—perpetually giving
tear tinged nostalgia
of an earthy
aunt, a fun-loving soul released
as the free
spirit I strive to be
