Envy is an Evil Thing
A spark of envy slips into my heart,
From this jealousy I cannot part.
Images of things I'm yearning for,
Lashing winds fans it ever more.
Anger licks the spark to a flame,
The stream of contentment is where I aim.
If only this wishing would be calmed,
The fire in my heart would be gone.
To want, to need, and to pine,
Stifle I cannot, this longing of mine.
Until I think of you, my friend,
With the waters of our bond, the blaze does end.
Washing over my heart's deep ache,
A dying ember in a tranquil lake.
