Memories in my Head
And so you’re gone
and I am here
alive but dead
breathless,
with these memories in my head
The images of you
bathed in blood
darling, you had my love
Why was that not enough?
You’re now free
and I like to think you’re happy
you’re up with the stars
locked away in my heart
I held you tight
my eyes wide with fright
you gave me your last breath
a peck on the lips, then you left
A waste of a life
cut short with a knife
this is what I do at night
lie in my bed and cry
And so you’re gone,
and I am here
alive but dead
breathless,
with these memories in my head
