&quot; Times you see, is a little arrangement that man has made for himself to try to measure the immeasurable mysteries of life.&quot; -Calypso to Ulysses (Bernard Evslin.)<br /> &quot; You don&#039;t have a soul, you are a soul. You have a body&quot; - CS Lewis

Rushing
We're late
Hurry inside, and change quickly

They've just begun
I take my place,
where no one stares at me, but

I can see them

The next combination
We listen
Trying to remember, I still forget

A pause
Dance by ourselves
And my dreams come, spilling

through my body

The sky is black
The stars are bright and colored
There is no Moon
And no Sun
No Earth
Nor any of my class mates

Just me

And I dance
My arms waving
my legs lifting
My heart soaring

The dance comes slowly
then takes flight, as the stars

sing
I feel their music
I feel joy in dancing

My eyes open to gaze at the stars
But I see them staring
One of them sneering
Their way of laughing at me.

I stop and try not to blush
Just keep going
Go with the class

Summer break
I work hard
To achieve my goal of pointe

Sore calves
Tired limbs
done right might just make a

stronger body

Fall class starts
I've improved
I can tell by their faces, they

think of me differently

Have I impressed them?

We get our Pointe shoes
Try them on
Learn to tie them
Begin to walk in them

They feel so different from my
dreams
Harder
Almost painful
But stronger

I can do this!
I can dance!

I'm free, now
No one can bind me
To the floor
I can fly
Because I can dance

The author's comments:
Ballet (or pretty much just dancing) is one of my favorite pastimes. It makes me feel so happy and light that I often can't help but dance whenever music is playing. The only thing I don't like about dance (ballet especially) is the other people. I often feel put down by just the looks they give me sometimes. It can be very discouraging, but always so relieving when I(we) can get passed that, and just dance.

True it is. Thanks for the support!

I forgot to add in the description that some of this is based on a book. I think it was called "En Point".  The dream skapes are a mix of my own and the ones from the book.

This is interesting. It's so true, too! The social aspect of ballet can sometimes be even harder than the dance itself! Keep strong and stick with it!
