A Damsel In Distress MAG
The gallant knight set forth on a quest
To rescue a damsel in distress
But when he knocked upon the door,
He found that she was there no more!
He shook his head, so filled with doubt,
And rode back on his steed
To tell the world, in a single shout,
He couldn't do the deed.
Then a maiden came, from around the bend,
Her face a lovely sight
“Fair maid,” he said, “Could you somewhere send
Me a place to sleep tonight?”
She smiled at him, and curtsied deep,
Saying, “Dear knight, why of course.
A place to eat and safely sleep,
And a place to rest your horse.”
He followed her to the inn in town,
They arrived at the break of day.
When she began to depart, he wore a frown,
Asking, “Miss, could you not stay?”
She sat with him at a table there,
And they talked long past morning's light.
There they fell in love, that maiden fair
And the steadfast, noble knight.
They were married soon after, their union blessed
And it seemed their love was fated
But he always said, when he spoke of his quest,
“Princesses are overrated.”
