From The Hilltop
From a bluff above the countryside
They’ve set a camera up
And as their cassette flickers on the screen the neon lights flare up
And then that Arizona sheriff
Said, “Mr. Obama, build this wall!”
Holds his magnifying glass on ant hills
Until the day he gets the call
Then he rides the welfare crutches
Into the downtown clinic’s universal clutches
To cure the tumor in his skull
Now there’s pirates in the suburbs
The Aliens work the farms
Weasels dodge shots with no cover
Holding Bibles in their arms
By the terrace on the corner
There’s a poor man with a cup and song
He’s been mingling with the pigeons
Asking where the bread has gone… From the hilltop
And in the dormant Capitol Building
The smell of bacon wakes the suits
While the Tea Pot kettlers sound the drumming
Pull up your shorts and strap your boots
And then the masks fall to the pavement
And you realize what the whole campaign meant
Do they look familiar to you?
And the women on the corner
Are in the dressing room tonight
The comics shake their purses
While the Bishop takes a light
Your money lives with pandas
While you have plastic bags for shoes
And the local summer squatter
Is now sharing sleep with you… From the Hilltop
If you can call that generosity
It’s all they could construe
Now the Yemen bombs fly free Southwest
On board B-2’s to Chicago
But the Security men can’t be sure
If you’re the passenger or cargo
And while rewinding back to Y2K
They see discrepancies on the Flight Log
While the two-term man’s laughing it up
They see it’s an inside job
They said they saw the Inside Job
They said they watched the market fall
They said they see Tom Brady
They said they saw it all… From the Hilltop

I've never read a poem about relating to politics. Somehow, this works out really well, though.
I love it! Thank you for pointing it out.
