&quot; This one&#039;s for the girls who have ever had a broken heart, who have wished upon a shooting star, you&#039;re beautiful the way you are...&quot;<br /> -Martina McBride

November twenty-third, two thousand and ten,
a night I wish I could live again and again.
The night of the semi-annual Thanksgiving feast,
and the whole time I had no idea who was flying east.

The doorbell rang a quarter till four hours later,
and out rolled a milk jug, confusing me greater.
But who rolled the milk jug, was my only question…
so I set out on that porch with my confuzzled expression.

And turned the corner where the porch bent,
only to find the best birthday present ever sent.
Tori Kennedy! I screamed! With little to no air,
she’s the girl who completes the inseparable sister pair.

Our arms opened wide as we ran to embrace,
she says that she wishes I could have seen my own face.
It shocks me that I didn’t pass out right there and die,
that having been such a huge, tremendous surprise.

One thing one must know about Miss Tori Kennedy,
is six years ago she moved across the country, a true tragedy.
without her, my heart has been feeling great pain,
therefore, her arrival caused me to go insane.

And here in Springboro she stayed for Thanksgiving,
And by the end of the week, it was a plane she was boarding.
We cried and hugged and said “I love you” over and over again,
That was November twenty-seventh, two thousand and ten.

What would you do if your best friend lived on the other side of the country? How would you react if she randomly picked you up from a Thanksgiving party?! I'm guessing you would be in a state of shock and excitement just like I was!!! So this is the poem I wrote recapturing that day! And of course it is dedicated to Tori-- my best friend, my future maid of honor, and eventually my bingo partner in the nursing home! :)
