For The Forsaken
Cigarette in withered hands
On the dirty city corner he stands
Eyes the color of a broken dream
Remembers the battles he’s seen
He coughs in the cold morning air
He puts out his cigarette, nobody cares
She’s looking for a friendly face
In this empty space
Full of strangers
Full of dangers
She couldn’t take her dad’s abuse
Being told she had no use
Little runaway girl crying
She’ll say she’s ok, she’s lying
Sitting on the bus
For her no one ever made a fuss
They don’t even know she’s gone
Shivering in the bitter dawn
He tried to go home
Seeking relief from the sandy and heat he’s known
But his family’s packed and left
Of a home and safety he’s bereft
They didn’t leave a note
What a bitter anecdote
She’s drunk again , that is plain
She’s drowning in the silent rain
Nobody really knows her name
And after the fire she’s never been the same
She drinks her pain away
She’ll deal with it another day
But for now she’ll pay to loss her mind
Its her death sentence her aching hands signed
He’s high as he**
He’s feeling swell
He’ll pop another pill
Alone on a hill
He needs to escape his life
He need s relief from the strife
He has no one to fall back on
So he sings his wordless song
She’s in the unemployment line
Holding on a thread of life so fine
About to snap, can’t take the pain
Its starting to affect her brain
She’s got a baby crying for bread
Her heartbeat pounds in her head
She hasn’t eaten in forever
On another fruitless endeavor
He’s cutting gasping in his arm
He’s got o friends to raise the alarm
He’s the forgotten one left to die
And every breath is a sigh
His blood is red
Its not the first night he’s bled
He’s got no prayers to be said
Lying sleepless in bed
He’s screaming
He’s no longer dreaming
But no one can hear him
No one comes near him
She’s pregnant and scared
She’s young and unprepared
For the life growing inside
And all her blue tears she’s cried
She’s been thrown out of her home
Unforgiving streets she does roam
She’s suffering in silence and cloud
She feels alone in a crowd
The insults slap her like fists
She has gaunt skin stretched over her wrists
All the stares
But nobody cares
Is her baby doomed to be judged like she?
Probably
Scarlet women dying inside
Perfectionists who’ve lied
The tears of all who’ve cried
The sadness of all those who sighed
Seen by the Lord Above
Loved by He Who Died For Love
His scarred hands reaching
Divine protocol He’s breaching
Crying as you cry
Sighing as you sigh
Hold you when you sleep
The Sheppard and His sheep
He’ll always fight for you
Living not in the sky so blue
But in the hearts of all
He took the bloody fall
And on Holy knees did crawl
He comes for the forsaken
The one’s who’ve hopes have been taken
So I can pray under many a star
The God I Love Isn’t far
