"Every artist was first an amateur." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

When one goes bad it goes really bad
And our time went by too fast
We put you up where you are now
And all you did was let us down
I was so excited to see you again
But when you came back I found you had changed
I tried to convince myself that you were not that bad
The way everybody painted you
But you were
All right, so I’ve never been one for art
And there was no way I could deny it
Even to myself
Any longer
There were times when I liked you
And times when I smiled
But you were not like you used to be
And I got cold after a while
Because once I had loved you
And I knew what it felt like to care
for something other than a miniature life
Being played out on my TV
On a secret channel for all the world to see
But it was too hard to care for this
What you had become, a thing to hard to defend
And it all had to come to an end
We propped you up and we brought you back
But all you did was change too dramatically
To the point where you were no longer you
And we were through
We held you up but you just let us down
And caused us pain
So now I’m walking outside trying to see through the rain
Wondering what might have happened next
I just want you back
The way you used to be
My emotions knotted and roiling
Like an angry sea
Our plan
When one goes bad it goes really bad
This one did
