Masks
On any normal day,
When all’s in the open,
Not one word of truth,
Is actually spoken.
We lie, we cheat,
We all run and hide,
While our true thoughts and feelings,
Are bottled inside.
But give man a mask,
And we are sincere,
We’ll say what we mean,
With nothing to fear.
It’s amazing, the power,
Of a simple disguise,
Of a shield to keep from,
The searching, looming eyes.
