Breakfast In Africa
As I sit down to eat breakfast
I begin to think to myself
What does a child in Africa eat for breakfast?
Do they eat
Pancakes?
Fruity Peebles?
Scrambled eggs with Cheese and diced ham?
Oatmeal?
Toast?
Bacon?
Blueberry muffins?
Pop tarts?
Fresh Fruit?
Or do they eat
Fried Bugs like the Chinese
Sprinkled with dirt for flavor?
Scraps out of old food from trash cans?
Fried rat which they caught with their own two hands?
Perhaps they wash it down with river water?
Every now and then there are specials on TV about Africa
One recently came on called, “Hunger in Africa”
It was about how the people in Africa are without food
The kids over there looked very small and malnourished
I felt bad for these children
I looked down in my lap and started at the fruity peels that I had been eating
