Pantoum for a Shooting Star
I remember my first shooting star.
It was a shining streak across the sky.
I made a really great wish,
but why didn’t it come true?
It was a shining streak across the sky.
I had been waiting my whole life.
But why didn’t it come true?
maybe my wish asked for too much.
I had been waiting my whole life.
It was something I really wanted.
Maybe my wish asked for too much,
maybe I wished on a bad star.
It was something I really wanted.
It would have changed my life.
Maybe I wished on a bad star,
maybe it wasn’t my fault.
It would have changed my life,
if it had come true.
Maybe it wasn’t my fault,
I guess it wasn’t meant to come true.
If it had come true,
I would have been complete.
I guess it wasn’t meant to be,
I guess you’ll never know.
I would have been complete,
if only it had worked.
I guess you’ll never know.
…I made a really great wish.
