Sidewalk Chalk
It happened so sudden and quick
Sort of like,
the painless overflow of your mind during a test
or the way blushing red wine stains carpet
But we had plans,
me and you
Well we still got some things to do
Like figure out who was right and wrong
because that's what people do
They breathe, then they walk, then talk
And soon enough they learn to love
and let go
And then suddenly it's all sidewalk chalk
Because over time it all seems to
fade
So maybe it wasn't so sudden and quick
And no,
I haven't sinned no matter where I've been
Or who I've held or who I've kissed
Because that's what people do.
They learn to forget people like you.
