A Beginning
Everything has a story,
every stone I kick, every ant that crawls.
Every tree has deep roots
that run for miles,
past dirt and mud
farther and farther
to where their story begins.
To the beginning of time,
a simpler time.
Rain fell to form puddles
and the sun shone.
The same sun,
that dries up lakes
and makes flowers grow.
The sun that burns.
The sun that warms.
The sun among stars.
We all know its name
and we all need its strength,
but sometimes,
we wish for the sun
to come a little late
in rising.
