“If you would be pungent, be brief; for it is as with words as with sunbeams. The more they are condensed, the deeper they burn.” – Robert Southey

I tried to silence Hate
By loving everything I met
And if there was no love at first
I had not seen its beauty yet
For a time, life was a dream
As I adapted to the change
But Hate caught back up after all
There is never an escape
With clarity of mind I saw
The way the world should be
That my life was for the world
That the world’s efforts produced me
But a girl whose fate is tied to life
Cannot escape both energies
Although I reached the heavens
Detachment remained incomplete
From the shadows, Hate observed
Watched my habits and my loves
And while I truly least suspected,
Hate destroyed them, one by one
Hate prevented me from sorrow
Kept my face a barren slate
As my world collapsed around me
Slowly, slyly crept in Hate
I am not sure if I’m to blame
Or if it is just my destiny
But aside from you, my love,
I fear I might hate everything.
