Windburn
Delicate snowflakes
Drift down from the sky
Born of a storm they land on
The warmth and kill it to bloom
Blue and purple
The bruises of a kiss
A body, arms and legs
Growing out, deep into the ground
The spiderwebs fall on a bare stomach
Break it
Frozen spiderwebs
Icy orbs and threats that are all entwined
Across the flat map of the cold skin
If you touch it, they’ll all crack
But be replaced by ten more
A photo frame of snow and ice
Lift up
Your limbs from the snowy ground
I cannot
The spiderwebs have frozen me over
Wake up
Your mind from the cutting cold darkness
I can’t
Dreaming is just more alive
Than this biting reality
Show me
How you can do this
Live, love, in this harsh net of a land
Ready to swallow you up at a moment’s notice
And burn you up
