Wings
I saw a moth last night
It's wings fluttered and rushed
Beating for the basement light
That flickered and flushed
No portal through the glass it found
To lead it to the light
Yet suffered in the darkness
And the longing of the night
"Little friend," I asked the moth,
"What drives your tiny soul,
To long so strongly for the light?
Is this your only goal?"
I smiled then, as the silken moth
Departed in the dark
For as the moth aches for the light
So aches the human heart
